So far this year there has been an increase in reported unexplained phenomena. In the last month alone there have been reports of strange noises in the sky, UFO’s and just the other day there were reports of “Humming metal boxes” appearing on coastlines around the world.

Personally I love a mystery, I also like to approach a story with a certain degree of caution. The first video on this report asks the question “WHAT’S THIS OBJECT THAT SLOWLY FELL OUT OF THE SKY IN JAPAN?” To me, & I’d hope any rational mind it is a deflated weather balloon or a large plastic bag- although I’d loved to be proved wrong! We must be careful not to let our hopes get in the way of rational thought.

You would think that in this day and age, where most people in society at least in the developed world carry on their person digital cameras and video cameras in the form of mobile phones you would think that the quality of the sightings would get better but I am yet to see a piece of “UFO” footage that cannot be easily explained. Indeed as it becomes easier to fake these things with CGI software making its way into home computers it becomes even less likely that we will ever see something that can truly be classed as authentic.

A few weeks ago, Stuart, one of our producers at Psychic World TV brought my attention to this video of an unexplained object in Russia. Whereas I was cautious and attempted to explain it using traditional explainations, (Vasselene on camera, filming Jupiter, Venus or even the moon, Camera man moving so as to create the illusion of movement…) I didn’t feel that any of them fully fitted. Could it be that at last somebody had captured a “Real” UFO?

The short answer is of course yes. It is an Unidentified Flying Object! People are too quick to associate UFO with Alien space craft! It was an unidentified object that was flying, or in this case falling.

A few days after that video came out a follow up video was released with a full explanation of what it actually was. Of course an Exploding Soyuz Rocket is not something you see every day so is it any wonder that so many people were fooled?

With the “End of the world” fast approaching this December I am not surprised that people are seeing more in things that are actually quite terrestrial. However if we allow ourselves to be fooled so easily we may miss something that is truly miraculous.

If we eliminate the impossible first we are more likely to discover the truth. The question is, how do we decide what is impossible?

Lets hope the third time is the charm! This show has got a very different feel to it, and I don’t mind saying I felt a little like a fish out of water on Saturday as I will be mostly presenting the show when I’m on, as yet I’ll not be in a position to do private or skype readings. It feels a lot more like the early days of Psychic & Soul, in it’s first month the presenter would draw the viewers attention to an off-screen psychic service but also present a show that was educational and informative, and that was not a bad thing!

Last night I presented a show with Jerry Humphries taking skype calls, and he gave me some great content, including a 4 step plan to turn negativity into positive change. I found it thought provoking and discussion provoking as well as entertaining and enjoyable, and I am looking forward to future shows where we can really break the mould with never before seen content!

I don’t mind saying I was reluctant to come back to this kind of show, with the bad feeling that has been generated over the past few years, however this show feels fresh and new, I hope it’s agenda will continue in that direction!

I was interested to read this article today on the BBC News site reporting about an article written back in 1900 that made predictions for the century that would follow using only knowledge of contemporary science. However rather than taking that science to the next logical step, the author made huge leaps in his conclusions And still got a lot spot on!

It leads me to wonder if we can use our knowledge of today’s science to see where we will go in the next 100 years?

One of the things I always seem to have difficulty with, especially when approaching prospective clients is defining what it is I do.

In the past I have been booked as a magician only to find that the people booking me have assumed “magician” means children’s entertainer! I have also used the title “Mentalist” to describe what I do, however popular culture has given that title a different meaning in recent years leading to people believing I’m crimally insane, (I might be, but that’s another story!)

I now use the term “Psychic Entertainer”, and that pretty much sums me up- I use my psychic abilities to entertain! However a lot of the time people just don’t understand, mainly because the title isn’t heavily used.

Many of you have seen my work on psychic TV shows like “Psychic and Soul” or “Psychic First”, but that is really representative of a small portion of what I do.

A psychic entertainer can do readings, and over the years I have worked on Phone lines, done email readings and had tables at psychic events.  But I have also done readings in corporate environments, private parties and weddings where the atmosphere is very different.

The people who come to these events do not go specifically for a tarot reading, in fact nothing could be further from their mind! However I always seem to have a long queue and frequently prove to be the most popular attraction even though the readings are just quick five minute general readings.

The people that come to me at these events would not normally consider booking a psychic reading, have various levels of healthy scepticism and are frequently amazed at what I can see in them!

I am also hired for Dinners, and Wedding receptions to mingle with the crowd and demonstrate my abilities on a one to one basis. I will ask someone to think of a word and associate it with a personal experience, then I will reveal what I am getting from them before invariably discovering the word. I will make short term predictions about the spectators choices and actions over a 5 minute period and I will show them how they can tap into their own psychic potential and develop these experiences for themselves.

In December I was invited to do a couple of stage presentations of these abilities and I must admit I was a little unsure how they would be received, as I’m used to working in an intimate environment and making the experience a personal journey for the individual concerned. However I found these shows proved successful and enjoyable to do as well!

A Psychic Entertainer is not just someone who does in-depth readings, Is not a Medium, (At least not in my case) or a mysterious stranger in a tent saying “Cross my palm with silver!”

A Psychic Entertainer is not a magician, but what they do is magical!

A Psychic Entertainer takes what they can do and makes it entertaining to watch, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere in an otherwise formal environment.

Between the 15th and the 31st October they are laying on Halloween entertainment for the half term, including a spooky tractor ride, Ghost stories, Pumpkin Carving and a guided tour round a witches house! There really wasn’t enough time to fit it all in one day.

Most of the stuff I do is really aimed at an adult audience, Personally I feel a commercial seance or ghost hunt can scar a kid for life if it’s too realistic. Also, I have never wanted to go down the route of childrens entertainment. It doesn’t suit my style and I had my share of Birthday parties from hell when I was first developing my art!

So I could really appreciate the fact that  the entertainment at West Lodge was aimed at all the family and I could see that the children in the audience being enchanted to the tales of Daisy the Witch and the old farmer that made one scarecrow to many meeting a grizzly end…

I can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was over too soon. A lot of care and attention to detail had been put into the extra activities and it was clear that this was something the organiser was passionate about.

If you have kids bouncing off the wall during the half term week and don’t know what to do with them this would make a good diversion and is well worth a visit.

Psychic parties are great fun! Peoples beliefs are challenged, and their eyes opened against a backdrop of social interaction with friends, family and people we like!

During a typical party I will give demonstrations of telekinesis and extra-sensory perception as well as quick 5-10 minute tarot or palm readings to all who want one.

At the time of writing bookings for such parties are creeping in for October and I am always very busy over the Halloween week in particular with both psychic parties and seances.

That was a question that was put to me nearly 10 years ago.
At the time I was merely covering the Saturday evening entertainment and doing Tarot readings throughout the day. Little did I know that I’d end up running the weekend!
Wadfest is an annual sci-fi and fantasy themed camping event now entering it’s 10th year. Originally started by enthusiasts of Terry Pratchetts “Discworld” series and aimed at offering a fun, variety filled weekend for families at an affordable price, it has become a regular date on many a geeks calendar.
The event also raises money for charity, and over the last decade it’s raffle and charity auction have raised over ten thousand pounds for cancer research uk.
Ten years ago, a man named Victor Wadmore spotted a gap in the Discworld calendar. On alternate years there would be a camping event laid on by a company called Clarecraft, but there wasn’t anything to replace it in it’s off year. There was the Discworld convention, of course, but many found the price beyond their means, (not that it’s bad value for money, if you can afford it- go, it’s a great weekend!).
Waddy’s original plan was to have a small meet up at a centrally based camp site where we’d sit round a camp fire, have a drink and a chat and generally have a fun relaxing weekend, how little he knew!
Over 70 people booked into that first event, including myself. I had just been to my first Clarecraft event and was hungry for more.
Waddy was keen to make the event something that everyone would remember and so, knowing my background in entertainment, asked me to do a show. I enthusiastically agreed to help, and what followed was at the time the most rehearsed show I’d ever done, resulting in one of the most enjoyable evenings work I have ever done!
It was quickly decided by those who attended that first Wadfest, that the event was a success and it should become an annual occurrence.
Over the years I slowly took more responsibility over the weekend. I suggested ideas to Waddy and marvelled over the fact that he took them on board! By 2005 I was officially the events co-orgoniser and was in charge of the smooth running of the weekend itself.
In the last 10 years we have had many high points, including having Sir Terry Pratchett as our guest of honour in 2005, and also a few lows including losing one of our key team members and original Waddy Wrangler Karen to cancer in 2006. But we have always maintained our sense of fun and to that end get between 300 and 500 attendees every year.
There are 2 elements that make the weekends work: firstly our dedicated committee, who work tirelessly all year round to gather prizes for the games, or approach potential areas for advertising, or procuring items for the charity auction.
Secondly is the attitude of the people who come. If there wasn’t a bloody minded determination to have a good time no matter what we would never have survived the poor facilities of the first events site, let alone the wind rain and mud of Koom Valley in 2004 or the Chav invasion of 2009, (Don’t Ask!)
In a few weeks wadfesters will be congregating once more in Church Laneham and celebrating 10 years in their unique style, and no doubt there will be new stories to add to the Wadfest cannon. This year will be more sci-fi orientated than ever before, but will always maintain its relaxed, informal style that has made it so popular over the years. There will be entertainment, games & one or two surprises along the way and the best part is that tickets are still available!
